Mammals

Overview

Andrewsarchus is a mammal creature in ARK added with the Fjordur DLC. This omnivorous opportunistic feeder can be tamed using Giant Bee Honey and ridden without a saddle. With 800 base health and high speed, it makes an excellent assault mount equipped with a minigun turret.

Dossier

Wild

Andrewsarchus mongoliensis is an unusual creature - a carnivorous mammal with hooves. Despite its wolf-like appearance and predatory nature, it is actually more closely related to whales and hippos than to dogs or wolves. It is an opportunistic feeder that will eat almost anything when hungry.

Domesticated

Tamed Andrewsarchus makes an excellent assault mount. Despite lacking a saddle until level 74, it can be ridden early and provides a unique mounted minigun turret that uses Advanced Rifle Bullets. Its high speed makes it perfect for exploration and pearl gathering.

Behavior

  • Not aggressive towards most passive and neutral wild creatures
  • Will walk peacefully amongst small herbivores without attacking
  • Hostile towards players - but has limited aggro range
  • Aggressively defends territory against intruders
  • Can move surprisingly fast when provoked
  • Will chase through deep water (as long as feet can reach bottom)
  • Has a sweet tooth - loves honey
  • Scavenger that will eat almost anything when hungry
  • Poor turning radius at full speed - can be dodged with distance
