Anglerfish
Creature Guide
FishOverview
The Anglerfish is a tameable, rideable aquatic creature in ARK. Found in deep ocean waters across all maps, this aggressive carnivore uses bioluminescent lures to attract prey. Perfect for harvesting Silica Pearls and exploring ocean depths - no saddle required!
Dossier
Wild
Melanocetus anglerpescum is a deep-sea predator that uses its bioluminescent lure to attract prey. Despite its frightening appearance, it is surprisingly skittish and will only attack when threatened or hungry. Its light can be seen from great distances in the deep ocean.
Domesticated
Tamed Anglerfish make excellent underwater mounts. Their bioluminescent light provides illumination in the darkest depths, and they are the best creature for harvesting Silica Pearls. They require no saddle, making them accessible early in the game.
Behavior
- Uses bioluminescent lure on head to attract prey
- Despite dossier describing them as skittish, Anglers attack players and tamed creatures on sight
- When damaged, attempts to flee but will turn around and attack again after short chase
