Overview

The Dinopithecus (also called Monkey or Baboon) is a large baboon-like creature in ARK: Survival Evolved, exclusive to the Lost Island DLC. Known for its pack-oriented behavior and unique abilities, Dinopithecus serves as an excellent all-purpose mount with grenade throwing, TEK disabling feces, and pack combat mechanics. It can scale cliffs and use ziplines, making it one of the most versatile mounts for Lost Island exploration.

  • Spawn in groups called troops with one Alpha
  • Adults will attack when provoked, juveniles just make threatening gestures then flee
  • When Alpha is killed, the troop disperses
  • Pack-oriented behavior - will organize around strongest member
  • Opportunistic omnivores - eat fruit, meat, and just about anything
  • Excellent climbers - can scale cliff faces and leap between trees
  • Will throw feces and bare teeth when threatened
