The Dire Bear is an imposing omnivorous mammal in ARK: Survival Evolved, found primarily in redwood regions. This massive bear is highly territorial and will aggressively defend its territory against intruders. Once tamed, the Dire Bear becomes an excellent mount with incredible stamina for long-distance travel, the ability to harvest both berries and meat efficiently, and a unique affinity for Giant Bee Honey.

Once tamed, the Direbear is a strong and reliable mount. It can carry vast quantities of goods and can sprint for extremely long periods. After building momentum, its sustained overland speed is among the best. Being able to feed it both meat and plant life makes keeping one convenient. Arctodus has a fondness for honey and can harvest it without getting stung.

- Can stand on hind legs to roar (intimidation)
