The Direwolf is a massive pack-hunting wolf in ARK: Survival Evolved, found primarily in snow biomes and some desert areas. Known for their incredible pack mentality and teamwork, Direwolves are aggressive predators that rarely hunt alone. Once tamed, they make excellent battle mounts with unique abilities like detecting hidden creatures and the Alpha buff system.

Canis is a thrilling battle mount - fairly fast, very strong, and agile. It can leap almost as well as the battle-cats. Riding an Alpha Canis at the head of a pack is a thrill! Canis has a keen sense of smell to detect hidden creatures beneath the surface.
Behavior
- Found in snow biomes and some desert areas (Scorched Earth, Ragnarok)
- Pack animal - rarely found alone
- Aggressive - will attack on sight
- Excellent eyesight - nearly as good as humans
- Individually weak like Sabertooth or Raptor
- In packs, can take down very large predators
- Will band together to take down apex predators
- Extremely loyal once tamed - obey without question
