The Megapithecus is one of the three main Bosses in ARK: Survival Evolved. Resembling an impossibly large gorilla with silver skin and white fur, this creature resides in the frozen northern arena. It is one of the most challenging bosses, requiring significant preparation and tribute items to summon. Defeating it rewards valuable Element, Tek unlock blueprints, and the Megapithecus Trophy.

The Megapithecus is a massive primate creature found only in its arena in the frozen north. It is an aggressive boss that will attack on sight. The creature has scars across its body and a blind white eye, suggesting past battles.

Cannot be tamed through conventional means.
Behavior
- Aggressive boss creature - attacks on sight
- Has three attacks: melee swing, throw rock, and summon minions
- Throws rocks that deal 2000 impact damage and break structures
- Summons smaller primates as minions during combat
- Very high health pool scales with difficulty
- Located in frozen arena in the north
- Requires 3 Artifacts for all difficulty levels
- Beta and Alpha require additional apex creature drops
