Overview

Velonasaur

The Velonasaur is a unique fantasy dinosaur from the Extinction DLC featuring a distinctive appearance with cacti-like frills surrounding its head and spine-like protrusions along its body. Velonasaurus spinavultus combines dinosaur and insect characteristics, making it a formidable combat mount. This medium-sized theropod has osteoderms scattered across its back and limbs, long forearms with sharp claws, and a quilled tail. Most notably, when its facial fins spread wide, the Velonasaur can rapidly fire a storm of spines at prey like a living minigun. The creature can also perform a 180-degree spin attack that fires spines in all directions simultaneously, making it deadly in close quarters. While in ranged attack mode, mobility is greatly reduced and the creature will eventually tire out. Velonasaur commonly appears in warm colors like red, orange, yellow, brown, black, and grey, though blue, green, and turquoise variants occasionally spawn. It serves as an excellent single-rider combat mount functioning as a living gatling gun, though riders should be cautious about getting too close to avoid friendly fire from its spines.
