Chalicotherium
Creature Guide
MammalsOverview
The Chalicotherium (CHA-lih-co-THE-ree-um), sometimes referred to as Chalico or Chali, is a unique mammalian creature in ARK: Survival Evolved. Perhaps the oddest mammal on the island, it is described as a hybrid between a horse, a gorilla, a bear, and a zebra but also looks akin to Ground Sloths. It walks on its knuckles like a gorilla and wields deadly claws. What makes it special is its ability to throw boulders as a ranged attack, making it excellent for siege warfare.

Found in small numbers within the Island
Domesticated
While many creatures are useful while attacking a fortress, Chalicotherium can be trained as mobile artillery. Its unique playtime habit becomes a rather devastating long-range assault tactic when it is given boulders to throw, rather than snowballs!
Behavior
- Very territorial - the entire family will attack if you approach one
- Throws balls of rocks, mud, and snow that can poison, slow, and obscure vision
- Most commonly found in cold, snowy regions but adapts to warmer climates
- Found in jungles, grasslands, beaches, and wastelands on most maps
- Not found in Scorched Earth or Aberration
- Often seen playing - throwing snowballs at each other like a war game
