The Broodmother Lysrix is a massive spider boss creature in ARK: Survival Evolved. As one of the three Guardians on The Island, she is the intermediate boss - stronger than the Megapithecus but weaker than the Dragon. She spawns Araneo minions, uses web attacks to slow enemies, and can inflict torpor damage with her acid projectiles.

Wild
The Broodmother Lysrix is the mother of all Araneo on the Island. This massive spider is one of the three Guardian creatures that protect the ARK. She resides in her arena, accessible through the Obelisks, and guards valuable rewards including Element and Tekgrams.
Domesticated
The Broodmother cannot be tamed through normal methods. She was temporarily tameable in early versions but this was removed. She can be summoned using tribute items at the Obelisks.
Behavior
- Aggressive boss creature - attacks on sight
- Spawns Araneo spider minions during combat
- Uses web attacks to slow players and mounts
- Acid projectile attack that can inflict torpor
- Much slower than the Dragon but still dangerous
- Only creature to drop Broodmother Trophy

- Scientific name Araneomarus morganii
- Drops Broodmother Trophy and Spider Flag on defeat
- Immune to torpor
- Cannot be tamed or bred
- Can damage all structure types (Thatch, Greenhouse, Wood, Adobe, Stone, Metal, Tek)
- On Valguero, spawns naturally in The Lair - does NOT give Tekgrams
- Until patch 183.0, the Broodmother was actually tameable
- Gives least Element of all three bosses but is good for learning boss fights
- Spider minions also inflict torpor and web attacks
